Nice shelter to stay in but only gives you 90 days with NO HELP WHATSOEVER! They make you fill out for apartments that you NEVER get accepted into and then they just throw you out onto the streets

Now that I have transitioned out of housing here, I can say that it was exceptionally hard to get help to come here in the first place. Rooms were promised then delayed, I brought my things here twice just to get told that I couldn’t stay because they didn’t even have me in their system (which is crazy because I did intake over the phone multiple times), and Crisis staff were very apathetic and honestly very rude at times. I was literally in crisis.. if I’m a bit impatient after being promised housing for days and going through hoops of fire just to speak to someone why are you going off on me? They do not seem like they have trauma-informed training, and act solely out of emotion as if they’re not supposed to be there for people at the most vulnerable time of their life. I’m not sure why most people who work here are not genuinely kind and supportive. Why else would you want to work at a non profit women’s shelter? What I can say is that upon arriving, I was immediately provided toiletries, food, and given a tour of the place and I appreciate that a lot. free bedding, food, and dinner was prepared for us. That’s a blessing for sure but it was difficult dealing with people with

I am so incredibly grateful for the time my children and I spent at the here at the shelter. This place was more than just a temporary homeβ€”it was a safe haven during one of the most vulnerable times in my life. From the very beginning, I felt welcomed, protected, and supported in ways I never expected. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were cared for, emotionally and physically. I truly felt seen, heard, and never judged. Their compassion helped me begin to heal, and their encouragement gave me the strength to keep going. My children were also treated with so much kindness, which gave me peace as a parent knowing they were in such good hands. Leaving isn’t easy. This place holds a special piece of my heart, and I will carry the lessons, growth, and love we found here with me into the next chapter of our lives. To everyone at Evanston (YWCA SHELTER) thank you. You made a lasting impact on our journey, and we will never forget your care. With deep gratitude, YG

I was here for three months and they didn't really do that much help. They didn't give me a extended date. I'm out busting my ass to find a job and put my one-year-old in daycare. They just refuse to help me. They threw me out. They put me and my daughter in a hotel for 45 days they've been Denying my extension days, but they given everybody else's extensions even people who don't have a job like me they giving them extension dates and giving them housing and it seem like no one is helping me. They don't care if me and my baby is on the street. I have a so-called case manager name Amanda she's not really a strong enough Advocate everyone keeps saying they going to advocate for me but they do that last minute they're not really doing so they will say they will have people call me to help me. I don't get no call no emails due to my concerns. I wouldn't recommend going here they pick and choose who they want to help.
